Northern Illinois @ Northwestern
It’s the second game of the post-Jordan Lynch era. Drew Hare, Matt McIntosh, and Anthony Maddie all played QB in the season-opening win over Presbyterian. McIntosh, who went 10-for-14 last week, will start against Northwestern. The Wildcats recover from a season-opening loss…Northwestern 27, Northern Illinois 21.
No. 15 Ole Miss @ Vanderbilt

San Jose State @ No. 5 Auburn
The San Jose State offense, led by QB Blake Jurich (22-for-25, 250 yds., 3 TDs), tore up North Dakota last week in a 42-10 win. This week, the defense will be a little better. Auburn will smoke the Spartans at home…Auburn 56, San Jose State 20.
San Diego State @ No. 21 North Carolina
The Tar Heels have won seven of their last eight games dating back to last season. Look for the streak to continue as head coach Larry Fedora’s squad entertains the Aztecs Saturday night…North Carolina 49, San Diego State 21.
Michigan @ No. 16 Notre Dame
It will be the end of an era on Saturday night. Two of college football’s most prolific programs will battle for the last time in a long time. The Irish have Everett Golson back at QB, while the Wolverines are loaded with talent on offense, including big WR Devin Funchess. Hard to pick against Notre Dame at home…Notre Dame 24, Michigan 17.
BYU @ Texas
New Longhorn head coach Charlie Strong and company get a real test from BYU Saturday. The Cougars stomped UConn, 35-10, last week and have one of the country’s most underrated QBs in Tacoma Hill, who threw for 308 yards and three TDs in last week’s win. Take the Longhorns at home…Texas 31, BYU 28.
Virginia Tech @ No. 8 Ohio State
In most years, this would be an exciting early season contest. The Buckeyes will be minus their best player, QB Braxton Miller, and Virginia Tech is just not what it used to be. Ohio State wins at the Horseshoe…Ohio State 35, Virginia Tech 17.
