Big East Conference Predictions

The Big East is still solid though maybe not as strong as the last few seasons. Defending national champion Villanova was hurt by most of last year’s starting lineup heading to the NBA. Still, the Wildcats are 20-7 overall, 11-3 in the conference, and they are ranked No. 17 in the nation. Marquette, with dynamic Markus Howard (25.7 ppg), is the Big East’s best. The Golden Eagles are 22-4 and 11-2 in conference play.

Head coach Chris Mullin has led a resurgence at St. John’s where the Red Storm are 19-8 overall. They are likely in the NCAA tournament. Of Seton Hall (16-10), Georgetown (16-10), and Butler (15-12); two of the three are probably in with one left out. Butler may have the advantage with wins over Ole Miss and Florida earlier this season. Expect five teams from the Big East to qualify for the Big Dance.
