Once the season gets fully underway, the opening game pitting the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Baltimore Ravens could end up being the precursor for the division title. With the Cleveland Browns opening against the Cincinnati Bengals, the two NFC Central in-state division rivals are not expected to be any threat to either Pittsburgh or Baltimore, making it most likely to turn the division into a two-team race for the division honor.
In the AFC south, the two best teams will open the season when Indianapolis Colts face the Houston Texans. For many years, the Colts have dominated the Texans but with Peyton Manning’s neck surgery and the potential of a hamstring injury to Arian Foster, it looks as though Houston’s time as a whipping post for the Colts is about to come to an end.

Watch out for Week 1 upsets
Along with many of the expected winners and losers for week 1, the NFL is usually rife with unexpected heroes and this year should be no different. Basically when a team that showed some improvement last year, such as the Detroit Lions looks to bring back some respect, they try to do it in the first game of the year. It won’t matter that they are going up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team that won more than 10 games last year. It is likely to be one of several upsets that will grace the opening day scorecards.
The Buffalo Bills showed some signs of improvement last year and will open the season in Kansas City, one of the most improved teams in the league. However, the Chefs were basically absent from any offseason improvements, except for adding a back-up for Matt Cassel by bringing in Steve Breaston. This decision to stay with a pat hand could come back to haunt the Chiefs as the Bills are more than likely going to have one of their games in which they show signs of genius.
The Baltimore Ravens brought in Vonta Leach, one of the better full backs in the league and will add a lot of power to their physical ground game. While the Pittsburgh Steelers are made up of a veteran team, that could work against them. Pre-season games indicate that the Steelers can still play football, but their veterans appear to have slowed just a little and that could be enough for the Ravens to please their home crowd.
Of course, the biggest upset of the new season could be the Indianapolis Colts, playing without Peyton Manning. Traveling to Houston in week one could be a treat for the Texans as well as a chance to show that their defensive additions during the off season could make them a contender for the 2011 season.
While so many teams planned to rebuild this year, bringing in new coaches, quarterbacks and playbooks, the lengthy strike made it difficult to put them all together. While they were all back on the job in time for the preseason, there will be plenty on teams that hit the field, basically unproven.
With the right knowledge to make educated picks you can make a lot of money betting on NFL regular season. Making real money during the NFL season is not that easy, you cannot like most of the people approach each game based on how they finished last year, which team they beat last year or which team has better starting players for certain position. It is a fresh new season, to where you should approach each matchup as it is both teams first time playing together.
Weather and humidity is an important factor for betting on NFL games, for example; making the game sloppy due to rainy field or ball throwing due to strong winds in the open stadium might get difficult.
With the previous season winners Green Bay Packers, they will be facing New Orleans on the opening day of week 1, which for some football betting enthusiasts it is one of the happiest days of the year.
The las vegas betting odds favor the Green Bay Packers with a point spread of five points. As we get closer to the kickoff of the 2011 season, make sure you check back for our experts’ predictions and change of odds. The early betting is very popular among top betting experts, because the odds and point spread lines tend to more due to heavy volume on a specific team or even the over/under lines (total score of the game) might change as well.
