Bovada odds Updated: June 2017

Denver Broncos
Odds to win the NFC west division: +180 - (as of August 2nd)
The defending Super Bowl champions will be hard pressed to match last year’s performance. Still, anything is possible with a defense that returns nine starters including Super Bowl MVP Von Miller. DE DeMarcus Ware restructured his contract to stay in Denver and give the Broncos a chance at repeating as the league’s best defensive unit. Peyton Manning rode off into the sunset of retirement and the team brought in Mark Sanchez to be his successor. If Sanchez can manage games and the Broncos run game improves, a sixth straight AFC West title is surely within reach.

Kansas City Chiefs
Odds to win the NFC west division: +225 - (as of August 2nd)
The Chiefs had a miraculous turnaround last season despite losing RB Jamaal Charles to injury. QB Alex Smith had a remarkable season and WR Jeremy Maclin was a welcome addition to the offense. TE Travis Kelce proved he is one of the NFL’s best at the position in helping the Chiefs to a 5-1 division record in 2015. Kansas City went into the offseason with six starters without contracts. Linebackers Tamba Hali and Justin Houston need to stay healthy and head coach Andy Reid would be wise to draft a top-notch cornerback in this year’s draft. With a solid defense and running game, the Chiefs should find themselves right back in the postseason again.

San Diego Chargers
Odds to win the NFC west division: +650 - (as of August 2nd)
Quarterback Philip Rivers had one of his best seasons throwing for over 4,500 yards, 29 touchdowns, and just 13 interceptions. The Chargers defense failed though and head coach Mike McCoy and company wound up 4-12. San Diego is in need of help on defense. They lost All-Pro safety Eric Weddle in free agency. The running game faltered too. Rookie Melvin Gordon didn’t pan out as expected. A lacerated kidney sidelined WR Keenan Allen, who was on pace to destroy the Chargers’ receiving records. McCoy did add FS Dwight Lowery and CB Casey Heyward in free agency, but the Chargers need a lot more help defensively.

Oakland Raiders
Odds to win the NFC west division: +225 - (as of August 2nd)
The Raiders have some of the best young talent in the NFL. Could 2016 be the year head coach Jack Del Rio’s club finally makes the postseason? The Raiders haven’t been to the playoffs or even had a winning season since 2002 when they lost in Super Bowl XXXVII. QB Derek Carr and WR Amari Cooper form one of the best young tandems in the NFL. DE Khalil Mack recorded 15 sacks and is a rising star. RB Latavius Murray found a way to hit 1,000 yards last year and the Raiders run defense is much improved under Del Rio. The offensive line needs some help and should address it in this year’s draft.
