January 13th, 2011 - Weekend football action will pare the field even more when the division leaders in the AFC and NFC will attempt to show which teams deserve to be in the Super Bowl this year. Many eyes will be on the Tim Tebow making his first playoff appearance as a rookie with the Denver Broncos while others will be looking for Aaron Rodgers to lead the Green Bay Packers to its second bowl appearance. Either way, this weekend promises to be an exciting one for the National Football League.
Another rookie poised under center will be T.J. Yates when the Houston Texans take on the Baltimore Ravens in the 1 p.m. (EST) game on Sunday. He will have to prove he can pass the ball as the Ravens have been able to stop the run all season. The Ravens’ Joe Flacco should be able to advance to the next round as his team made it into the playoffs with a better record.

2012 NFL Live Odds and Lines
At 12-4, including a pair of wins against a tougher Pittsburgh Steelers team, Houston slid into the playoffs with a 10-6 regular season record with a quarterback that is basically untested in the playoffs. Greg Gumble and Dan Dierdorf will be announcing the game on CBS.
Later Saturday Drew Brees will head to San Francisco where the 49ers could be in for a tough night. Although some football skeptics claim that playing a dome makes it difficult for a quarterback to flourish when they are out of their element, if San Francisco can’t put pressure on Brees he could give their secondary a tough way to go.
The Saints lost their last playoff road game against Seattle last year and even some of their devoted fans are looking for a repeat. However, Alex Smith, who hasn’t offered a lot of flash during the regular season, did help the 49ers end the regular season with an identical 13-3 record, matching Brees and the Saints. Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston and Tony Siragusa will call the game on Fox beginning at 4:30 p.m. (EST) on FOX.
Denver snuck into the playoffs with an 8-8 regular season slate after edging Pittsburgh with a touchdown on the first play in overtime. However, both teams will remember that New England whipped on the Broncos during week 15 with a 41-23 win. The Broncos had been galloping through a six-game win streak when Tom Brady’s crew put a stop to their run.
Tebow has shown that he is capable and willing to run the ball when the secondary closes his passing options, but when the passing lanes are open has been able to hit a variety of receivers and with a troubled New England secondary could basically have his way with them with a solid passing game.
With many of the so-called football experts using the Patriot’s extra week off to talk about how lousy their defense played, they can use the extra time to shore up that aspect of their game. CBS will televise the 8 p.m. (EST) start with veterans Jim Nantz and Phil Simms calling from the booth.
Green Bay ended the regular season with a league best 15-1 record and will face a 9-7 New York team and could be well on their way to a second Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers at the helm.
Despite a close game, 38-35 in their regular season meeting, the Packers are looking at the dismal defensive play of Eli Manning’s Patriots. Although the game will be played in Foxborough, which could give the Pats a slight edge.
During their regular season win, Rodgers threw for four touchdown passes, something the Patriots will have to contend with again if they hope to further their playoff hopes. FOX will broadcast the 4:30 p.m. (EST) game with Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Pam Oliver and Chris Myers providing the play calls and commentary.
