College Football’s regular season has ended and now it is time to see the best teams compete in bowl games. The regular season was thrilling and the participants of the various bowl games were determined on the final week. Although the BSC bowls will not occur until several weeks, there are exciting match-ups coming up in a matter of days.

Bowl Games on Saturday December, 17th 2011

Temple University vs. University of Wyoming - Gildan New Mexico Bowl, Dec. 17

The Temple University Owls will be taking on the University of Wyoming Cowboys in the first bowl game of the season. The Owls finished the season at 8-4 and had a 5-3 record against Mid-Atlantic Conference, which was good for second in the MAC-East.

As for the Cowboys, they will be coming into the season at 8-4 and a record of 5-2 against Mountain West Conference opponents.

The Owls finished the season on a three-game winning streak, but unlike the Cowboys, they did not play any ranked teams. Although the Cowboys did not upset any Top 25 teams, they have experience with going up against potent opponents.

Ohio University Bobcats vs. Utah State University Aggies- Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, Dec. 17

The Ohio University Bobcats finished the season at 9-4, which placed them at the number one position in the Mid-Atlantic Conference. The Aggies have no problem scoring points, and they seem to find ways to either run into the end zone or kick balls between the uprights whenever needed. With their potent offense, the Bobcats are putting themselves in a position to win the bowl game.

As of the Aggies, they had a record of 7-5 and finished the season at second in the Western Athletic Conference. The Aggies are coming off a five game winning streak and hope to ride their momentum into their bowl game. Like the Bobcats, the Aggies can score points at will. Whenever the need a score, the offensive squad can deliver.

Although their defense is not where the coaching would have liked, an explosive offense lineup compensates for their weaknesses.
This Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will be an exciting game for fans. Expect to see a high scoring game with touchdowns been scored on consecutive possessions. Both the Aggies and the Bobcats can score points, but at the end of the day the defense will have to win the game.

San Diego State University vs. University of Louisiana at Lafayette- R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, Dec. 17

The San Diego University Aztecs will take on the University of Louisiana- Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns for the night game.

The Aztecs finished the season with a record of 8-4 and were 4-3 against Mountain West Conference teams. The Aztecs are coming off a two game winning streak and they plan to wrap up their season with three straight wins and a bowl game victory. The Aztecs are known for their running game and are a run heavy team. If their game plan is concentrated on running the ball, they will have a good shot in winning the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

The University of Louisiana - Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns have lost two games in a row, but hope they can get their act together before the bowl game. The Ragin’ Cajuns are not as explosive on the offensive end as the Aztecs, so a full team effort is needed to pull off the upset.

Unlike the Aztecs, who are at their best when running the ball, the Ragin’ Cajuns do not have a specialty. They need to perfect an aspect of their game in hope of winning this bowl game.
