2011 March Maddness College Basketball Tournament Preview

Everyone is already full of excitement and anticipation as the 2011 March Maddness is just around the corner. The cheers of the die-hard fans will once again fill the arena as they root for their favorite NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball teams. Here is a quick look at the current March Madness standings of teams in some of the big conferences based on their conference record:
Southeastern Conference Standings
The East has the Florida Gators are lording it over in the SEC with a conference leading 11-2 overall mark while Vanderbilt is a distant second with a 8-5 win-loss record. Kentucky, Georgia, and Tennessee are all tied in third place with identical records of 7-6. South Carolina is at the bottom with a dismal 5-8 mark.
Moving over to the West has Alabama pacing the rest with a record of 11-2. Arkansas is tied with Mississippi State with a 6-7 mark. Rounding out the West are Mississippi, Louisiana State University, and Auburn with 5-8, 3-10, and 2-11 records, respectively. This will make for an exciting 2011 college basketball tournament.
Pacific-10 Standings
Arizona leads the Pac-10 with a 12-3 record. UCLA and Washington are a close second and third with 11-4 and 10-5 marks, respectively. Trailing them are the University of South Carolina (8-7), California (8-8), Washington State (7-8), Oregon (7-8), Stanford (6-10), Oregon State (5-10), and Arizona State (2-13).
Mountain West Standings
Brigham Young is tied at the top spot with San Diego State as both have a 12-1 record. UNLV and Colorado State are the only other teams above .500 with 9-5 and 8-5 records, respectively. Utah (6-8), New Mexico (5-8), Air Force (4-9), Wyoming (3-10), and TCU (1-13) complete the Mountain West ladder board.
Big 10 Standings
Ohio State sits atop of the Big 10 rankings with a record of 13-2 and they are followed closely by Purdue (12-3) and Wisconsin (11-4). Rounding up the rest of the teams are Michigan State (8-7), Penn State (8-8), Illinois (7-8), Michigan (7-9), Minnesota (6-9), Northwestern (6-10), Iowa (3-12), and Indiana (3-12).
Big 12 Standings
Texas (12-1) is leading the Big 12 and followed closely by Kansas (11-2). Texas A&M (9-4) places thirds and the rest follow suit; Missouri (8-5), Kansas State (7-6), Baylor (6-7), Nebraska (6-7), Colorado (6-7), Oklahoma State (4-9), Oklahoma (4-9), Texas Tech (4-9), and Iowa State (1-12).
Big East Standings
The number one team in the March Maddness Big East is Pittsburgh (13-2) followed by Notre Dame (11-4), Louisville (10-5), St. John’s (10-5), Georgetown (10-6), Syracuse (10-6), Villanova (9-6), Cincinnati (9-6), Marquette (8-7), Connecticut (8-7), West Virginia    (8-7), Seton Hall (5-10), Rutgers (4-11), Providence (3-12), South Florida (2-13), and DePaul (1-14).
Atlantic Coast Conference Standings
Duke (12-1) and North Carolina (11-2) are the top two teams in the ACC. They are followed by Florida State (9-4), Virginia Tech (8-5), Maryland (7-6), Clemson (7-6), Boston College (6-7), Miami (5-8), Virginia (5-8), North Carolina State (4-9), Georgia Tech (3-10), and Wake Forest (1-12).
