Road to Final Four – North Carolina vs Kentucky Online Bookmaker Odds

Category: College Sports, Free Pick, NCAA Basketball

Coverage: CBS
5:05 PM ET, March 27, 2011
Prudential Center, Newark, NJ

North Carolina (29-7) vs Kentucky (28-8)
Opening Vegas Line: Kentucky -2

Live Betting Odds
BetUS.com – North Carolina +1.5 points
Sports Interaction – Kentucky Wildcats -1.5

UNC has been on a roll.  They’re 12-1 in their last 13 games, with the one loss coming to Duke in the ACC Championship game.  After a shaky 7-4 start, Harrison Barnes and Tyler Zeller pulled the Heels together and both averaged 15.6 points per game.  UNC has their hands full in this next game against Kentucky after breezing by Marquette.  They won the 2009 championship and then failed to make the tourney in 2010, so they’re looking to redeem their status as one of the most dominant NCAA programs in the country.

The Wildcats have won 9 in a row, including 2 against the Florida Gators, one of those being in the SEC Championship game.  The combination of Brandon Knight, Terrance Jones and Doron Lamb has been almost unstoppable.  Kentucky lost in the Elite 8 last year to West Virginia, who they defeated in the 2nd round this year and are looking to reach their first Final Four since they won it all in 1998.

This is going to be a championship type game.  Both teams deserve to be here and are playing extremely well.  Brandon Knight and Lamb will control the tempo of the game and Kentucky will win in what should be a close game all the way through.

Today’s Free Pick: Kentucky -2

VCU vs. Kansas Elite Eight March Madness 2011 Matchup

Category: NCAA Basketball

2:20 PM ET, March 27, 2011
Alamodome, San Antonio, TX

MARCH MADNESS 2011 – SOUTHWEST REGION – ELITE 8 AT SAN ANTONIO

VCU (27-11) vs Kansas (35-2) -11.5

VCU is clearly the Cinderella team for the 2011 March Madness Tournament.  The Rams have never made it passed the 2nd round.  They played their way into the tourney by beating USC in a convincing manner and have won 3 more games since then against Georgetown, Purdue and an overtime 1 point victory over the Seminoles.  Bradford Burgess has really turned it up a notch, averaging 20 points and 6 rebounds per game during March Madness.

The Morris brothers, Marcus and Markieff, have been unstoppable all season, both shooting just under 60% from the field during the season.  The Jayhawks are the only number 1 seed left and are now the favorite to win the entire tournament.  Kansas has only lost 2 games all season, one to Texas back in January and at Kansas St.  They’ve breezed through the first 3 rounds, winning by an average of over 17 points per game.

The Kansas Jayhawks will continue on their journey to the Final Four and a championship in a dominating win over VCU.  The Rams have had an incredible run to make it to the Elite 8, but the road ends in San Antonio on Sunday.  Kansas wins this one by double digits as well.

Today’s free pick: Kansas -11.5

UConn vs. Arizona Elite Eight March Madness Matchup

Category: NCAA Basketball

7:05 PM ET, March 26, 2011 on CBS.
Honda Center, Anaheim, CA

Arizona(30-7) vs UConn(29-9) -3

Being in the Pac 10, Arizona has been an underrated team all year.  They are 7 and 1 in their last 8 games, with their only loss being by 2 points the Washington Huskies.  Derrick Williams had 32 points and 13 boards in their very impressive 93-77 win over the top seeded Duke.  Last year was the first year since 1985 that the Wildcats of Arizona failed to make the NCAA tournament, so their playing with a chip on their shoulder and are playing with the intensity it takes to make the Final Four.

Uconn is known to be one of the most top programs in the NCAA, but they haven’t won the tournament since 2004.  After knocking off the second seeded San Diego State in a dominating fashion, many are finally giving Uconn the respect they deserve.  After all, they’ve won their last 8 games, including 5 wins in 5 days to win the Big East Tournament.  Kemba Walker is averaging 27.1 points per game during this span and is convincing the nation that he is ready to move to the next level.

This is a very intriguing matchup.  If Alex Oriakhi of UConn can keep Williams from controlling the glass and Kemba plays the fast pace game he loves and the Huskies will move on to the Elite 8 for only the 3rd time in the 2000’s. This one will go down to the buzzer, but I think Uconn will win by a point or two.

Pick: Arizona +3

Bulldogs vs. Gators – March Madness Elite 8 2011 Matchup Prediction

Category: College Sports, Free Pick, NCAA Basketball

Coverage: CBS
4:30 PM ET, March 26, 2011
New Orleans Arena, New Orleans, LA

Butler(23-9) vs Florida(26-7) -4

Betting Odds
BetUS.com – Florida Gators -4 points
Sports Interaction – Butler Bulldogs +4.5

It might come as a surprise to most, but Butler is one game away from reaching the Final Four for the second consecutive year.  With a win over number 1 ranked Pittsburgh and a convincing win over the tough defense of Wisconsin, the Bulldogs have proved that they belong.  Shelvin Mack, who averaged 15.6 points per game during the regular season, is averaging 19.3 during the tournament.

The Gators got their revenge on Jimmer and BYU Friday after being eliminated in a first round overtime loss last year and having not made the NCAA Tournament for the 2 years prior.  Now they’re just one win away from reaching the Final Four for the first year since 2007, when they won their 2nd straight championship.

This one should be a close game, but if Florida can dominate the boards, like I think they will, they will come away with a win and move on to the Final Four for the 3rd year since 06.  The Gators have just as  solid of a back court and are much bigger and stronger on the front line than Butler.   Florida is  2-0 against the Bulldogs all time, with both wins coming in the tournament.

Pick:  Florida -4

Elite Eight NCAA Basketball Tournament Teams and Players

Category: NCAA Basketball

NCAA is a basketball tournament played between approximately sixty five schools and colleges from all over the United States and for the title of the ultimate champion of basketball. This tournament is very popular in the US and is followed very religiously. This tournament is played in the month of March and is often referred as March madness also.

This is a much talked about event of the season. Following are a few updates of this season. To start with there is a sad news about one of the players of West Virginia University, Darryl “Truck” Bryant, who wont be able to play this seasons tournament as he has unfortunately broken his right foot. He holds an amazing record of thirty one games and has an average of 9.3 points. He will have to be replaced by a junior player now called Joe Mazzulla who is not as good a scorer as Darryl.

March madness has reached its level two now, and the surprises are coming in with every match played. Most of the teams which were expected to make it through have made it, but there are a lot of unexpected things also happening around. The most unexpected news of this season is that last year’s champion team of North Carolina Tar Heels has not made to round two this time. It is not a guarantee that you will make to the finals in the consecutive years, though the all time favorite team of Kansas has made it through. They entered round two by defeating the team of Lehigh in the first round with a score of ninety against the seventy four of Lehigh. It is anticipated that the team of Kansas will be able to make it to final four as well. Another last year’s qualifier from Midwest Division, Michigan, has also made it to round two.

From the West Division, last years final four qualifiers Connecticut surprisingly was not a part of the first round even this season. On the other hand a last year’s qualifier from East Division, Villanova, finally made it to round two with a very close match between them and Robert Morris in the South Division. The match stopped at a score of 73-70 in the favor of Villanova.

Following is a list of matches that will be played among the teams which will advance to round two.

· East – people here will witness the following matches- Kentucky versus Wake Forest, Cornell versus Wisconsin, Washington versus New Mexico, Missouri versus West Virginia

· South- here Duke will be facing California, Texas A&M will be against Purdue, Old Dominion will face Baylor and St. Mary’s will be against Villanova.

· Midwest- Kansas will fight out N. Iowa, Michigan will be against Maryland, Tennessee will fight Ohio and Georgia Tech will be facing Ohio St.

· West- west will witness matches were Syracuse will be against Gonzaga, Butler will be facing Murray, St. Xavier will fight Pittsburgh and BYU will fight Kansas St.

There will be a lot of excitement to watch these matches. We should be excepting the unexpected and definitely go and witness the real game for enjoying it to the core.
