Los Angeles Lakers at Cleveland Cavaliers - Tonight at 8:05pm

Category: NBA Basketball

Thursday, 8:05 pm Eastern – TNT
Los Angeles Lakers at Cleveland Cavaliers

The two top NBA teams meet in a high profile TNT televised game on Thursday as the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are 32-11 host the Los Angeles Lakers, who are 32-9. This is a key game for both teams since the team that finishes with the best overall record would have home court advantage if the teams meet in the NBA Finals. The Cavaliers already defeated the Lakers earlier this season so a win on Thursday would give them the tiebreaker if the teams finish with the same record.

The Lakers begin a very challenging eight-game road trip on Thursday. They will be playing eight games in 13 days beginning with this matchup in Cleveland. There are three sets of back-to-backs and two big games, against Cleveland and Boston. The Lakers have played the fewest amount of road games in the league but that is about to change. “I think it’ll tell us where we’re at,” said Lakers forward Ron Artest, “We feel like we can come out perfect. I don’t think anybody will doubt us even though we haven’t been out on the road yet.”

The game on Thursday is very important to the Lakers since they were routed 102-87 at home by the Cavaliers on Christmas Day. “Obviously, we didn’t like that at all,” forward Pau Gasol said. “We want to show them that we’re the better team. They have confidence now that they can beat us.”

The Lakers have the best NBA record in the league but they still haven’t played their best basketball. “We play well for a half, the next night we play well for 20 minutes.” Head coach Phil Jackson said, “We haven’t really strung together 3 1/2 quarters or whatever.”

The Lakers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Thursday games. The Lakers are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Lakers are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. the Eastern Conference. The Lakers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Lakers are 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings against Cleveland.

The Cavaliers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games. The Cavaliers are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. the Western Conference.

NBA Playoff Preview
Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers (Game 1)
Wednesday, 8:35 pm Eastern – TNT

SBG Global Opening Line: Cavaliers - 8.5 , Total 180

The Eastern Conference Finals get underway on Wednesday as the Cleveland Cavaliers host the Orlando Magic. While the Cavaliers are heavily favored in Game 1 and in this series, the Magic believe they can win. “We have a great chance of winning, but it’s going to take playing hard for 48 minutes if we want to win a championship.” Orlando’s Dwight Howard said, “Cleveland is tough and we understand that they have been sitting at home waiting, they got a lot of rest, but we have to be mentally prepared and ready to go to battle with a team like Cleveland.”

SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Cavaliers at Home.

The Magic actually won two of the three regular season games against the Cavaliers this season including handing Cleveland their worst loss of the season 116-87 back on April 3rd. “Their pick-and-roll game is tough for us to handle. It’s tough for anybody to handle.” Cleveland head coach Mike Brown said, “Defensively, they do a nice job also, especially with Dwight hanging around the paint. So we’re going to have to make sure we attack them and try to get to the free-throw line.”

Here are the NBA betting stats for Wednesday’s game. The Magic are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. the Central. The Magic are 15-6 ATS in their last 21 games as a road underdog. The Magic are 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Cleveland. The Underdog is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings between the two teams.

The Cavaliers are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 Conference Finals games. The Cavaliers are 11-0-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Cavaliers are 18-4-1 ATS in their last 23 playoff games as a favorite.

SBG Global Current Line: Cavaliers - 8.5 , Total 184.5

The Under is 7-2 in Orlando’s last 9 games as a road underdog. The Under is 22-8 in Orlando’s last 30 overall.

The Under is 6-1 in the Cavaliers last 7 playoff games as a favorite. The Under is 4-1 in the Cavaliers last 5 vs. the Southeast. The Under is 14-5-1 in the Cavaliers last 20 home games. The Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Cleveland.
