2010 NFL AFC Division Predictions
With the NFL season coming up in a little over a month there are teams gearing up for the season getting new players and coaches on the same page. The American Football Conference (AFC) has been the powerhouse conference in the past and is looking to continue the trend this year.
The New England Patriots, who are in the AFC East will remain as a powerhouse with Brady and Moss returning the key additions to the defense will be a key factor this year in the AFC East. The AFC East Division will be pretty competitive with the Miami Dolphin, who continues to gain stronger each year on both sides of the ball. Miami’s defense was one of the top defenses in the league finishing 7-9 last year, that is a young and aggressive team looking to gain respect. The New York Jets have been picked to be a factor in the AFC with the loss of running back Thomas Jones in the off-season. Although, the Jets lost Jones they picked up wide receiver Santonio Holmes in the off-season giving quarterback Mark Sanchez more targets on the field.

While the AFC North Division that was ruled by the Baltimore Ravens, who finished
9-7 last season led by Joe Flacco will continue lead the AFC North Division will the addition of wide receiver Anquan Boldin. Out west in the AFC West Division the Chargers led by Phillip Rivers, who finished 10-3 last year will continue to lead the AFC West only without running back Ladanian Tomilson, who was released in the off-season. The lack of competition coming out of the AFC West division gives the Chargers the chance to win the division again. The Oakland Raiders, who gained quarterback Jason Campbell from the Washington Redskins and the loss of quarterback JaMarcus Russell to pending drug charges. The Denver Broncos drafted Heisman trophy winner, quarterback Tim Tebow and key offensive and defensive additions. While the Kansas City Chief, without running back Larry Johnson will have to do another year of rebuilding to become a threat to the division.
The AFC South Division is the division to look to take over the AFC conference in another run for the Superbowl and another MVP crown for quarterback Peyton Manning. The Colts, who have Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon, Dallas Clark and other targets he could possibly use to pick any team’s secondary apart. The Houston Texans, still known as a new franchise is looking to make a move in the AFC and begin to make a name for the franchise with young quarterback Matt Schaub and veteran receiver Andre Johnson.
The pick to win the AFC conference to take on the NFC champions has be predicted to be the Indianapolis Colts to bring the Vince Lombardi trophy back to the AFC.
